Iconography Retreat and Workshops

 

Iconography reteats are offered each year in May at Queen's House of Retreat and Renewal Centre in Saskatoon, Sk. and at the Star of the North, St Albert, AB. Canada.  A eight week icon workshop is offered in the fall and winter of each year.  Whether you are interested in an icon retreat or workshop you will be introduced to the ancient tradition of icon writing. You will learn the techniques of writing an icon on a wood board covered with gesso using egg tempra, natural pigments and     24 Kt gold.  Included in the retreats and workshops will be prayer, demonstrations and theological reflection. 

 


Integrating God's love through Creative Expression

 

This retreat will offer reflective input, prayer, group sharing and engagement in creative expression. Creative expression can be a rich prayer practise that can move us past words into silence and a deeper awareness of God's love for us.

 


Watercolour made Easy

 

In this workshop you will discover the adaptability and versatility of watercolour. You will learn basic techniques for simplifying painting with watercolour and be inspired to loosen-up, have fun and paint more!  There will be demonstrations, input, practicum and group sharing.

 


Experiencing the Wonder of Acrylic

 

In this workshop you will learn new techniques and approaches to painting with acrylic. Expect a life-giving workshop awakening your passion for painting with acrylic. There will be demonstrations, input, practicum and group sharing.

 


Exploring Mixed - Mediums with Acrylic

 

In this workshop you will expereince different approaches in painting with mixed-mediums and acrylic which will push your creative boundaries.  This workshop will offer techniques that are designed to motivate unususal ways of thinking and perceiving. The process learned will be a creative tool for transforming ordinary seeing into exciting and cohesive works of art and invigorate your creative spirit.
